Lions defeated by Brumbies

Brumbies claimed a historic victory defeating British and Irish Lions 14:12. They were very well motivated and controlled the game for most of the time. Strong defence and effective lineouts contributed to great success.

Lions had seven players who were not included in the original team. They joined as injury replacements. Even “the Welsh wizard” Shane Williams put on the Lions jersey. Although he was close to score a try in the first minutes of the game, he couldn’t steal the win. The visitors were not gelled enough and didn’t quite get the plan of how to break the solid defence. Lions’ bench which arrived in the second half added some flow to the game and had a positive impact but it was too late to get back the game.

I’m sure that fans and team would love to finish the tour unbeaten but this loss is not a big drama. The most important is success in the test games with Wallabies. First match will take place on Saturday.
